Objective

To conduct fair, transparent, and structured summative assessments in accordance with the academic regulations of Bangalore University, ensuring accurate evaluation of students' knowledge, skills, and competencies at the end of each term.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure adherence to Bangalore University's examination guidelines and schedules.
  • Coordinate with faculty members for internal marks allocation and timely syllabus completion.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of question papers, answer scripts, and evaluation reports.
  • Facilitate smooth conduct of theory and practical examinations as per the university timetable.
  • Collect, verify, and submit internal assessment marks and practical exam scores within the prescribed deadlines.
  • Support the Examination Committee in conducting university examinations and assessments.
Things to Consider
  • Follow all protocols issued by the Controller of Examinations, Bangalore University.
  • Ensure syllabus completion at least two weeks before the commencement of university exams.
  • Maintain consistency and fairness in awarding internal assessment marks (IA).
  • Adhere to the university-prescribed structure of question papers and evaluation rubrics.
  • Maintain proper documentation of IA marks, practical exam attendance, and evaluator remarks.
Protocol to be Followed
  1. Use the official Summative Assessment/Examination Committee seal on all exam-related notices and submissions.
  2. Display the university exam timetable on notice boards and official platforms at least 15 days in advance.
  3. Ensure that internal assessment marks (20/30 as per course structure) are compiled and uploaded on the university portal on or before the due date.
  4. Appoint invigilators and ensure proper invigilation duty rosters are prepared in advance.
  5. Maintain sealed custody of question papers until the examination hour and ensure secure handling of answer scripts.
  6. Conduct practical examinations with university-appointed external examiners and ensure proper documentation of marks and attendance.
  7. Submit all necessary documents (internal marks, practical marks, attendance) to the university as per notified deadlines.
  8. Conduct review meetings post-examinations to evaluate the effectiveness of summative assessment procedures.
  9. Submit exam committee meeting logs and updates by the 5th of every month.
  10. Maintain records of student grievances or discrepancies related to summative assessment and report the same to the Examination Cell for resolution.
