Student Counselling

As the awareness and sensitisation for the importance of counselling increases, it has become one of the most crucial support systems for students. Students often face mental health concerns, academic pressure and need help for career guidance and personal growth. Counselling helps identify these issues and focuses on taking measures which would bring out a positive growth to students. The institution assures to provide professional support and guidance to students according to their specific needs. Aside from the professional counsellors collaborated with the institution, several grievance redressal committees are facilitated to tackle any issues faced by students.

NSS

National Service Scheme (NSS) is a youth-oriented voluntary program for students to participate in community service activities and contribute to social development. It develops the personality of students through community engagement and promote social awareness and responsibility.

With NSS volunteers of the campus, a wide variety of community programs have been organised which includes health promotion, health check-ups, Covid-19 awareness programs etc. Numerous cleaning drives, tree plantation and Green India Challenge are coordinated by the campus as a part of environmental sensitisation programs. Other philanthropic activities include blood donation, food kit distribution for special children etc.

NCC

National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a youth development movement which aims to train young adults to become disciplined, provide basic military training and to promote social welfare activities. In a short span of five years, the institution has successfully formed an energetic battalion and most of the cadets have achieved C Certificates.

YRC 

Youth Red Cross (YRC) which is the youth wing of Indian Red Cross Society works towards promoting health and hygiene awareness, community services and humanitarian values.

Rotaract

Rotaract is a global organization which focuses on leadership training, professional skill development and community service for young adults. Rotaract clubs promotes welfare of local communities and provide opportunities to develop their skills such as public speaking, project management, teamwork event planning etc. Through Rotaract, the students have access to trainings, networking opportunities and international exposure with the help of its widespread community across 180 countries.

Rotaract Club was established in Surana on 27th July 2019. It is sponsored by Rotary Bangalore North, RI District 3190. With its motto “Service Above Self”, the club has successfully executed around 100 projects since its inception. It has four avenues which focus on delivering its distinct contributions: International Service, Community Service, Fellowship Service and Vocational Service.

Mentorship

Mentorship has a robust importance as it provides students personalised guidance, support and valuable insights to help them achieve their academic and personal goals, and helps foster a positive learning environment. Acknowledging its advantages, the institution has formed a system wherein a teacher is allotted for each group of 10 students. The mentors create their students’ profiles and focus on delivering guidance and moral support to the mentees.

Student Council

Student Council in Surana provides a platform for students to voice their opinion, concerns, and ideas to the administration. The council also creates a sense of community and encourages students to become actively involved in decision-making process of the institution. Moreover, the members and representatives of student council gain valuable leadership experience, communication skills and teamwork abilities which are beneficial for their academic future and professional endeavours. The key functions of student council include conducting elections for office bearers, organising students’ events and activities, advocating for students’ welfare and to mediate the gap between students and management in the institution.
